- Hold a Certificate III or higher in community services, health, or a related field
- Have equivalent skills and knowledge validated through recognition of prior learning (RPL)
- Bring substantial industry experience, supported by on-the-job training and supervisor assessment
Endorsed by industry, this course is a great way to strengthen your skills, broaden your career opportunities, and better support clients in the community.
This course is currently fee-free for eligible students.
What will I Learn?
By completing the Alcohol and Other Drugs Skill Set, you’ll gain the practical knowledge and skills to provide effective support to clients experiencing alcohol and other drug-related issues. You’ll learn to:
- Recognise and respond to the signs of alcohol and other drug misuse
- Provide safe and ethical support tailored to individual client needs
- Apply harm-minimisation strategies and referral processes
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and service providers
- Work within legal, ethical, and organisational frameworks

This course is delivered Face to face at Warrnambool Campus on Tuesdays 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Thursdays 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Pathways
The units in this course provide credit towards a range of qualifications in Community Services, including the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs CHC43215.
