If you have a passion for hands-on work, like keeping fit and working both indoors and outdoors then a building trade will give you the skills to take you all over Australia.
We offer a range of building trade courses including pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship courses in a variety of construction trades including carpentry, furniture and cabinet making.
As part of your training in carpentry you will receive the skills to work in constructing, erecting and renovating structures and fixtures for residential and commercial buildings.
Your qualification can lead you to working outdoors on building sites erecting framing for buildings or inside upgrading interior fixtures.
If furniture or cabinet making is more your thing, we can give you the skills to use hand and power tools, while teaching you about safety, timber joints and construction, assembly and the operation of woodworking.
The skills you gain in this course can be applied to anything from furniture making to kitchen cabinetry.
We also offer the Certificate IV in Building and Construction, if you’re a qualified tradesperson looking to prepare for builders' registration or move into supervisory roles.
We are taking expressions of interest for a course suitable for people interested in building and construction as a career or leading to an apprenticeship as well as people wanting basic skills for home.
Expressions of interest are being taken for a 20-week course delivered at Sherwood Park, three days a week. The course will develop your ‘hand skills’ to an acceptable industry standard. You will acquire these skills by participating in building projects. You will construct a full size domestic house or similar structure from ground to completion.
Upon completion, you may pursue an apprenticeship in the building industry.
