Why Motorcycle Licences
To operate a motorcycle or motor scooter in Victoria, you must hold a motorcycle licence that is obtained from a VicRoads-accredited provider.
The Motorcycle Graduated Licencing System includes three compulsory stages:
- Motorcycle Learner Permit - the first step towards gaining your motorcycle licence. This is a compulsory two-day training and assessment. Upon successful completion, you will receive a Motorcycle Learner Permit, valid for 15 months.
- Motorcycle Check Ride - a mandatory coaching session to be completed at least one month before attempting your licence assessment.
- Motorcycle Licence Assessment - the final step in gaining your motorcycle licence that includes private on and off-road assessments. Upon successful completion, you will receive a Motorcycle Licence.

There are two ways you can book our motorcycle courses:
- Visit a campus – you can come into your nearest campus and take care of everything in one go: book, pay, and complete the paperwork in person.
- Pay over the phone – call our team to make a payment and secure your place. You will still need to visit your nearest campus before your assessment to complete the required paperwork.
