Introduction
The Course in Initial EAL is for students who have no prior knowledge of English. This course is designed for new migrants.
At this course level, you begin to develop English language skills in recognising letters of the alphabet, recognising and copying familiar words and numbers from 1-100 and participating in familiar spoken exchanges.
What will I Learn?
During this course you will learn how to:
- use strategies to participate in learning
- identify common media
- recognise letters of the alphabet and their sounds
- recognise and copy extremely familiar words
- recognise and copy numbers from 1 to 100
- participate in extremely familiar spoken exchanges

Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) funded
SWTAFE's Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) provides free English language tuition to eligible migrants and refugees from non-English speaking backgrounds.
AMEP helps new migrants learn basic English skills that will assist them to successfully and confidently participate socially and economically in Australian society.
