Weekend hobby leads to a career in building for Lachlan
When I was younger I was always interested in the building industry and spent a lot of time after school and on weekends out in the shed building new things.
I now work for MM Hearn and Co in Port Fairy and am studying the Certificate III in Carpentry at South West TAFE.
I’ve learnt a lot since I started my apprenticeship and I’ve been given the opportunity to work on some unreal projects.
I love being able to see a project from start to finish.
I’ve also really enjoyed trade school at TAFE. It’s a lot of fun, the teachers are great and the facilities at Sherwood Park are so good for learning.
In the future I’m planning on continuing to develop my skills and build some good houses and see what happens. I might even start my own business one day.
