Pursuing a passion in creative arts

/ Success Story
Liv Rees is determined to create a career in the creative arts industry.

After graduating from secondary school, I was undecided about what I wanted to do but was given the opportunity to study Certificate III in Education Support as a traineeship at my school in Balmoral.

The traineeship gave me experience in a full-time work environment, teamwork skills and time to decide which path I wanted to pursue.

I was always interested in art and passionate about drawing and painting. I have been inspired by my home community and family, and movies from Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks studios for their animation and drawing creations of characters.

This passion led me to study Certificate III in Visual Arts at South West TAFE and I’m now studying Certificate IV in Visual Arts.

I have loved studying here. This course allows us to explore, learn, and discover what kind of an artist we want to be. Throughout our studies, we’ve been given opportunities to meet people in the art industry, and to paint a mural for Sheepvention at the Hamilton Showgrounds.

The teachers and people I’ve met have been extremely supportive and lovely to work with as we learn a range of skills and different mediums and encourage and inspire each other.

When I complete this course, I’m hoping to explore my passion for art and further my studies with the Diploma of Visual Art.

I like the idea of being an independent artist through social media, exhibitions or teaching art to children. The opportunities are endless.

I would love to one day have a career in this field but I’m open to all possibilities.
