Gaining more than just language kills

/ Success Story
Maftuna Matkosimora studied the Certificate III in English as an Additional Language but gained so much more than English language skills.

I moved to Australia from Uzbekistan in 2021 and wanted to improve my English skills.

My husband suggested I come to TAFE to study, and I found it to be a great opportunity to improve my English, make new friends and start a life here in Australia.

I was able to make friends with people from all over the world who I still stay in touch with today.

I only had very little English when I started, but I found the teachers to be extremely helpful and supportive.

Since completing this course, I have had two children and am now studying the Certificate III in Information Technology, also at South West TAFE.

I have loved this course and am learning so many new skills to help me gain employment in the growing ICT field.

When I complete this course, I’m hoping to find a job at a local business and then continue my studies in data analysis.

My EAL course has definitely helped me in my current course and to settle here in this country. It would have been very difficult without improving my English first.
