South West TAFE specializes in meat and food processing qualifications which are delivered flexibly in the workplace to suit the businesses needs.
Our butchery courses are delivered by Meat Training Australia (MTA), a specialist meat training centre endorsed by the Victorian Government.
MTA offers qualifications from the Australian Meat Industry training package and Food Processing Industry training package at Certificate II, III and IV levels. Industry-specific short courses are run throughout the year and tailored to meet the ever-changing needs of this highly-scrutinised industry.
MTA incorporates lean manufacturing concepts into all training programs. Our trainers work with lean manufacturing champions in the workplace to facilitate cultural change and enable the adoption of continual improvement processes.
Accessibility is a key priority of training delivery, all training programs are delivered on-site. Trainers operate from purpose-built learning centres located on-site at processing plants and on-site in retail butcher shops across Victoria and South Australia.
